Bryce Howell Obituary; 26-Year-Old Adel, Georgia Lineman for Colquitt EMC Has Passed Away Following Tragic Loss

The community of Adel, Georgia, is grieving the untimely and heartbreaking loss of Bryce Howell, a dedicated lineman with Colquitt EMC, who passed away on June 20, 2025, in Tifton at the young age of 26. Bryce’s passing has left a profound emptiness in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him in Cook County and beyond.

Born on February 12, 1999, in Adel, Bryce spent his entire life deeply rooted in the South Georgia community. He was known by many for his warm personality, strong sense of duty, and the kindness he consistently extended to everyone around him. Whether sharing a light-hearted joke or offering a helping hand, Bryce’s gentle spirit and unwavering loyalty were constants in the lives he touched.

Professionally, Bryce found his calling as a lineman for Colquitt EMC—a role that was a perfect match for his courageous heart and tireless work ethic. He took great pride in his job, understanding the vital role linemen play in keeping communities connected and safe, especially during power outages, storms, or emergencies. Come rain or shine, Bryce stood ready to serve, often putting the needs of others ahead of his own comfort. His colleagues remember him not only as a skilled worker but as someone who made even the hardest days feel a little lighter with his optimism and team spirit.

Beyond his professional life, Bryce was first and foremost a family man. He was the cherished son of John and Theba Lattin Howell of Nashville, Georgia. From an early age, they instilled in him the values of integrity, kindness, and hard work—principles that guided every part of his life. As a brother, he was deeply devoted and supportive, sharing an unbreakable bond with Brittany (Sam) Young of Moultrie and Nick (India) Jordan of Lenox. Bryce took his role as an uncle to Hendrix Jordan and Jordan Young to heart, celebrating their achievements and cheering them on at every milestone.

One of the most special parts of Bryce’s life was the love he shared with his girlfriend, Emily Sumner of Adel. Emily was not just his partner, but his best friend and confidante—the person who stood by his side through life’s highs and lows. Together, they built a relationship filled with love, laughter, mutual respect, and shared dreams for the future.

Bryce also held close ties with his extended family. His uncle Sam Howell of Adel; aunts and uncles Merlin and Royce Payne of Nashville, Lyrae and Donnie Berry of Hahira, Jerry and Kathy Lattin of Hahira, and Jessica and Jason Knowles of Sparks, all played an important role in his life. He was a constant presence at family events, where his easygoing nature and genuine warmth made him a favorite among relatives of all ages.

In addition to his biological family, Bryce had formed deep, brotherly friendships with Blake Joiner, Kyle Craven, Sean Barker, and Dylan Brady. Their bond was forged over years of shared memories—from fishing trips and football games to everyday adventures that turned into unforgettable stories. Bryce was the kind of friend who showed up, no questions asked, and those friendships were a testament to his loyal and dependable nature.

The extended families of Sumner, Wood, and Faircloth—Danny and Shannon Sumner, Gage Sumner, Angie and Damon Wood, and Teri and Brandon Faircloth with Lainey Faircloth—also considered Bryce one of their own. He was welcomed into their homes and hearts as a son, a brother, and a friend. The reach of his love and the impact of his life extended far beyond immediate circles.

To the entire Cook County community, Bryce Howell was more than just a name—he was a shining example of kindness, humility, and strength. He lived with intention, worked with purpose, and loved without reservation. His unexpected passing has left many in shock, but his memory is a powerful legacy that will continue to inspire others.

Funeral services to honor Bryce’s life will take place on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home in Adel. Mr. Tracey Webb will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation is scheduled for 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Boone Funeral Home, located at 1804 S. Hutchinson Avenue, Adel, prior to the service.

As we say goodbye to a young man whose life ended too soon, we remember Bryce for the love he gave freely, the hard work he put into everything he did, and the light he brought into the lives of everyone around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy—built on loyalty, love, and service—will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest peacefully, Bryce Howell. You are forever remembered.
